WESTERLY - A19-year-old Westerly man has been charged under the town's so-called social host liability ordinance.
Westerly police charged Roberto L. Toledo, of 2 Knight St., Unit C, early Tuesday with hosting an unlawful gathering on private property where alcohol was served to minors.
Mello said police responded to a noise complaint at 12:07 a.m. on Knight Street and allegedly found approximately 15 individuals, all underage, and alcohol present.
In July, the Town Council passed the ordinance, which holds individuals age 18 and older responsible for conducting, aiding or allowing a party or gathering at a residence where alcohol is served to minors. A first offense carries a $250 fine.
